The Lighterman: King’s Cross

What a great find before going to see The Railway Children!

The Lighterman opened less than a year ago in a three floor building in the redeveloped plaza, Granary Square, behind King’s Cross station.

Apparently, the name is inspired by the industrial past of King’s Cross, and the Victorian Lightermen who worked on flat-bottomed barges, known as “Lighters”, on the canals and rivers of London.

Lovely outdoor area both on the ground floor and the terrace area and a large and bright indoor space, as well as views of the canal. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to eat here (couldn’t justify it given we had dinner booked a few hours later!) but the menu is typically British gastro pub with flat breads, steaks, burgers, salads and fish dishes at fairly reasonable prices.

Would definitely visit again for food and some drinks.
