The Wenlock and Essex is my solid “go to” pub in Angel. Based down Essex Road, it offers a chilled atmosphere during the day with a wide choice of pizzas and a decent space with long benches and booths. Prices are on the slightly cheaper size – with 2 spirits or 2 small glasses of wine for £10.
It becomes a little livelier on a Friday / Saturday evening and stays open until 2am. The dance floor is at the back of the venue with a neon dance floor and neon signage. The music is a mixture of commercial and some old school rnb and hip hop. Always a good laugh.
