Based on Essex Road is the Old Queens Head – it sounds like a normal bog standard pub but is actually really lovely inside with a dim lit interior, comfortable couches and lovely chandeliers.
The food is from Lucky Chip, who offer a range of tasty burgers (including a special burger each month) and sides. We had the Cheeseburger (beef patty, american cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles) and the Kevin Bacon – same as the cheeseburger but with applewood smoked bacon and french fries. The burgers were good – medium rare, juicy and filling!
I also managed to squeeze in the buffalo hot wings with blue cheese dressing, which were spicy but so awesome! Good value with a burger and fries at only around £12.
The bar staff were friendly and the venue offers a whole array of activities including comedy, quiz nights, karaoke, live music and club nights at the weekend until 2am with music generally being a mix of commercial, house, dance and hip hop.
